When building with CLT, identifying and integrating your team early in the process is not optional. It is the front end collaboration between manufacturer, engineers, contractor, architect and developer (and more) that makes a well-designed and profitable CLT building possible. The time spent in research and design is more than made up during construction. Ben will speak about the importance of early integration and illustrate how that approach made Kaiser + Path’s mass timber projects successful.
Ben Kaiser, Founding Partner, Kaiser Group + Path Architecture
Ben brings a unique perspective to urban development, informed by over 20 years of serving as the owner, developer, architect, and general contractor on his projects.
Ben is committed to mass timber construction and believes it is the future of sustainable development. To bring his signature project, Carbon12, to life, Ben successfully worked with state officials to waive the restrictive codes that limit the height of wood buildings. This accomplishment has made mid- to high-rise cross-laminated timber buildings possible for the first time in the United States.
He was involved in the early stages of Portland’s Pearl District and has spearheaded redevelopment in NE Portland, including the Historic Mississippi District and the Williams/Vancouver corridor.
