Dean E. Aldrich, Founder
Dean Aldrich received his law degree, cum laude, from Tulane University, and received his undergraduate degree in civil engineering, with high scholarship, from Oregon State University. During college, Dean worked in heavy highway and bridge construction, and building construction. After graduating from college, Dean was a project manager for an international building construction company (mostly design-build) based out of Portland, Oregon.
After graduating from law school, Dean focused his legal career on complex litigation and trial work. Dean has successfully handled complex trials and arbitrations involving a variety of claims (environmental, trade secrets, construction payment and delay, construction defect, product liability, insurance coverage, business, water use, and government liability).
The bulk of Dean’s practice is devoted to construction claims and contract negotiations. Dean has obtained multimillion dollar judge and jury verdicts and arbitration awards, successfully defended claims, and negotiated complex settlements. Dean regularly handles breach of contract, payment, lien, delay, termination, construction/design/product defect, and insurance coverage disputes from all sides (owner, contractor, subcontractor, supplier, design professional, consultant), for claims large and small, complex and straightforward, and during boom and bust cycles. Dean has drafted and negotiated complex business and construction contracts nationwide. Dean is a member of numerous legal organizations and construction/engineering organizations, and is a frequent speaker on construction litigation. Dean is active in the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association and has testified before the Oregon Legislature on construction law issues.
Jesse Ormund, Partner
Project teams routinely work with Jesse on “live” construction matters. He counsels international, national and regional construction companies on sophisticated contract administration and project execution challenges that arise when building commercial, industrial and special-purpose structures. Jesse understands how industry relationships operate under multiple project delivery methods, including design-bid-build, design-build, CM/GC and other contract bases. Accordingly, construction professionals work with Jesse to define strategies that balance immediate project interests with long-term business goals.
When required, Jesse also partners with construction companies to advance or defend claims in litigation and arbitration. Over the last several years, Jesse has been privileged to serve on multiple large arbitration teams representing construction professionals in high-stakes disputes over complex projects located throughout the Pacific Northwest and Intermountain West.
Jesse started his career as a construction laborer — and has now been involved with construction projects for nearly 20 years. As result, he works with absolute passion to help people who build projects and, by extension, communities.
Jesse is a member of several construction industry and construction law organizations in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. He routinely presents at construction claim and risk management seminars. He also contributes to publications on public-works procurement, construction damages, lien interests, and suretyship.
