Increasing our reach! The Oregon chapter is very excited for what 2023 has to offer. We have been successful in making our Portland breakfast programs available both in-person and virtually. With the support of champions in Bend and Eugene we are making progress toward offering more in-person events. Both Bend and Eugene now have meeting spaces available for those looking to network and interact with other Design-Builders. Reach out to Monica Anderson or Jon McGrew if you have any questions about attending in-person events or getting more involved in what we hope will soon become addition to our Northwest Region’s chapters.

Young Professionals. We are happy to announce that we are already planning our first young professional event for the year with a goal having one event each quarter. We have missed being able to get together in person and hope to see faces we haven’t seen in a while along with many new faces. If you are interested in helping plan, coordinate, or explore opportunities to get involved, or even sponsor one a young professional’s event please reach out to Jake Tonnessen Jake.Tonnessen@mortenson.com

Annual Top Golf Event This year will mark the fourth year hosting our annual Top Golf event and mixer. Registration is now open!!! Sponsorship opportunities are filling up fast! Don’t miss out on your chance to be part of one of our best-attended events.

Oregon State University Student Chapter The development of a Student Chapter at OSU is progressing with involvement from our DBIA Oregon chapter professionals. The Oregon State University DBIA Student Chapter is hosting DBIA industry partners to present at speaker meetings every Tuesday from 6-7pm during the 2023 winter & spring terms. Thirty-three students attended the first session on January 24th which featured John Medvec from Skanska. The lecture series will cover topics such as “Communication Best Practices,” “Trade-Partner Perspective,” “Owners Rep Perspective,” and “A Day in the life.” Industry partners are encouraged to present in person, although the student chapter is open to virtual lectures.

Thank you to those who have already committed to speaking. We still have openings for both terms; the schedule is below. If you have any interest, please contact Ian Anderson for more information and the list of student-requested topics. We are also working on starting a student chapter at Portland State University. We currently have (3) students engaged and actively recruiting more interest, with the intention of starting meetings with officers and faculty sponsorship in the spring.
