On December 13, DBIA Oregon hosted its second co-located hybrid event: Budget Constrained Higher Education Renovations and Leveraging Progressive Design-Build, which was previously shared at the DBIA National Conference in November. The event included simultaneous participation from Bend and Eugene meeting spaces. The panel consisted of Eric Smith from Washington State University Spokane, Scott McGlocklin from Bouten Construction Company, and Nick Byers from Hennebery Eddy Architects. Eric shared WSU’s approach to procurement and the overall goals for renovating one of its oldest buildings into a primary space for its College of Medicine. The panel shared lessons learned during the design phase and shared specific tools and concepts for managing and sharing project decisions, requirements, and ideas in an efficient manner. Nick wrapped up the presentation by sharing his personal experience with progressive design-build delivery and the areas where making a ‘mental shift’ is necessary to be a productive team member and add value throughout the entire process.

December’s breakfast marked our annual food drive. Thank you to everyone that donated food and provided cash donations. Your generous contributions resulted in $415 and several pounds of canned food being donated to The Oregon Food Bank.
