We had our first, of hopefully many, DEI moment at the beginning, given by Herb Yamamoto, CEO of BIM Connection and DBIA National DEI Chair who talked about how DEI is at the heart of DBIA.
The presentation about Harbor of Hope was given by Lauren Loosveldt, Senior Associate, and John Shorb, Partner, from Opsis Architecture with questions moderated by Jon McGrew of Hennebery Eddy. Lauren and Josh walked us through the thought, design, and construction process of this shelter in Downtown Portland. As part of the discussion, they talked about the challenges of building a community shelter in the city and how this could be a model solution for cities struggling with similar issues.
