News from this year’s DBIA NW Region Annual Strategic Planning Summit
Design-Build is alive and strong in the Pacific Northwest. With 775 members, your involvement makes our region the second largest in the nation!
Each year the DBIA NW Regional Board has a strategic planning summit to identify the focus for the coming year. As our organization continues to grow and mature, we have focused the last several years on important organizational efforts that include implementing a distinct Western Washington Chapter structure, creating a highly effective regional marketing committee, and diversifying the regional board to better represent our umbrella organization of Owners, Design Professionals, Construction Professionals, Academics, and other Specialists throughout our region, and across our entire geographic area of WA, OR, ID, and AK.
This year we are focused on how the NW Region, our Regional Committees, and our Chapters can work together to be the preeminent Design-Build Resource for our members and community.
There was significant discussion of how the DBIA NW Region can supplement and complement DBIA National’s educational content and best practices to meet Pacific Northwest regulatory requirements and align with local and regional work practices and culture. One of these areas of focus is Progressive Design-Build. We currently have some of the most progressive legislation in the country and are leading the nation on developing the best practices and approaches to Progressive Design-Build Done Right! As always, the organization seeks the best approaches that consider and balance the needs of Owners, Designers, Builders, and Trade Partners.
