Owner’s Pipeline Program Recap

In September, we held our annual owner’s pipeline presentation. Traditionally one of the most popular programs, this year was no exception, even in a virtual setting. More than 200 attendees participated in the session with great questions coming from various contractors, architects, engineers, and public and private owners across the region.

We heard from the Port of Seattle and their 4-year, $3 billion dollar capital improvement project pipeline, Sound Transit’s Operations and Maintenance Facility South project, and the University of Washington’s strategic plan to shift projects due to COVID. Washington State University is making a similar shift to smaller projects focused on deferred maintenance and we learned the “secret sauce” to working with the University. The Department of Enterprise Services presented on their project pipeline focused on community and technical colleges funded through the 2021-2023 biennium. We also heard from Tacoma Public Schools and Central Kitsap School District why they prefer progressive design-build for their upcoming projects.
A common theme amongst the presenters was their organizational commitment to creating equitable opportunities throughout the region and investing in healthy communities and environments through diversity in contracting and a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
