Who could have imagined that 2020 would unfold as it has?
Owners shifted their attention to accessing risks for continuity of their operations. Contractors learned new ways to operate to keep jobsites open and people safe in the field. A/E professionals pivoted to a work-from-home structure. As the stay-at-home order took hold, our chapter program committees replaced in-person meetings with virtual presentations to continue to provide valuable content. Your participation and feedback on these programs are helping us to improve our content and navigate this new normal together.
The killing of George Floyd and the outrage that followed has been a catalyst for many of us to reflect on how to more effectively address diversity, equity and inclusion in the design and construction industry. As an umbrella organization that represents owners, design professionals, contractors, and the trades we are uniquely suited to address this together. “There’s a Better Way to Build” is the new DBIA promise which underscores the importance of collaboration.
Looking forward, the regional board will plan out the steps we will take over the next year and beyond at our annual strategic planning summit in September. Please respond to the membership survey that will be distributed to the region’s members so we can gather your feedback in advance.
Our regional and chapter boards are looking forward to when we can gather together again in person at our education programs and networking events!
